Rumor was our first sheltie, and with her began our love for the breed. Although there are many many other Rumor grandchildren and great grandchildren (through Fascination & Idle Gossip)  in other kennels, we have shown here the influence she has  had here at Highledge. Although Rumor was too big to compete in the show ring,  and there were many who  questioned  why we would keep, and breed a bitch who was not  worthy of being shown,  we always loved her irreplaceable pedigree, and the fabulous temperament that came with it.  We  purchased  her as a show puppy from the Alfenloch Kennels when she was just ten weeks old.   She was one of the last shelties bred at Alfenloch.  Many years later Alfenloch would lease back from us her daughter Fascination,  and her grand-daughter Fanfare For us she produced two Champion daughters, CH. HIGHLEDGE FASCINATION, who in turn  produced, CH. HIGHLEDGE FANFARE, whose son CH. HIGHLEDEG HEADMASTER, gave us two wonderful daughters. BPIS HIGHLEDGE LOOK WHO'S TALKING’,  and HIGHLEDGE WHIMSICAL.    Whimsical went on to produce BPIS BPISS CH. HIGHLEDGE ON A WHIM who now has FOUR beautiful Champions, and  BPIS HIGHLEDGE LOOK WHO’S TALKING,  produced the lovely  BPIG CH. HIGHLEDGE TAPESTRY GIFT OF GAB who in turn has given us CH. HIGHLEDGE SWEET JUSTICE. Through her other daughter, the Group winning CH. HIGHLEDGE IDLE GOSSIP,  we had the gorgeous  BISS  CH. HIGHLEDGE SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT,  who produced three outstanding daughters.  They are BPIS HIGHLEDGE LOOK WHO’S TALKING,  HIGHLEDGE TALKIN' TRADITION and  Multiple(4 ) BPIS CH. HIGHLEDGE  TALKIN’ OUT LOUD,  who have all proven themselves in the show ring, and the whelping box. HIGHLEDGE TALKIN' TRADITION is the dam of CH. HIGHLEDGE IRISH CREAM ROMC who has made his mark as a sire both here and at other kennels with 22 Champions to date.  Multi BPIS CH. HIGHLEDGE TALKIN’ OUT LOUD is the dam of BPIG CH. HIGHLEDGE JAGGED EDGE (5 Ch’s), BPIG CH. HIGHLEDGE HIGHFALUTIN’ RAE3 CD  (1 Ch), and BPISS BPIS CH. HIGHLEDGE WILD IRISH ROSE, who also proved herself to be an excellent producer with three Champions from her only litter, including our CH. HIGHLEDGE AUDITION, who is herself now the dam of 4 Ch’s  CH. HIGHLEDGE TRUE GRIT,   GRAND CH. HIGHLEDGE TITUS, CH. HIGHLEDGE GRAND STAND (3 Ch), and CH HIGHLEDGE TWISTING FATE. Also through HIGHLEDGE TALKIN’ TRADITION came HIGHLEDGE FOLLOWING TRADITION who is the grand-dam (CH PANTS ON FIRE and CH HIGHLEDGE REMINISCE) or great-grand-dam (HIGHLEDGE LIAR LIAR) or great-great-great grand-dam (BPIS CH HIGHLEDGE PRETTY LITTLE LIAR) to all our current Shelties. Every sheltie that bears the HIGHLEDGE  prefix is a direct descendant of Rumor. Her contributions to HIGHLEDGE are immeasurable. Thank you so much Rumor for the legacy that you leave.  I see your smiling face when I look at your family.   I look for you in your favourite corner, I hear your raspy bark.  You will be with me always...... in my mine,  my heart, and my soul.
