HIGHLEDGE SHELTIES was established in 1994 and registered in April 1995.
After searching for a quality foundation bitch, we purchased ALFENLOCH
COMING UP ROSES from ALFENLOCH KENNELS. "COMING UP ROSES" was closely
linebred on AM/ CAN/CH.ALFENLOCH RYAN O’NEIL ROM ROMC and AM/CAN/JAP/CH.
ALFENLOCH WHIRLWIND ROM ROMC . Although "COMING UP ROSES" was never
shown, she had tremendous quality, and she produced two Champion daughters,
who have gone on to help us create our own of family of shelties.
We have always kept our kennel small, usually
maintaining around five or six dogs at any given
time. Puppies (normally between one and three
litters a year) are born in our bedroom and
remain there, separated from the rest of the
kennel until about two weeks of age to ensure
both the safety of the puppies and privacy for
their dam. They then move to the Living Room
and then onto the kitchen where they can be exposed to the hustle and bustle
of daily life.
We have recently moved from our rural property to a lovely home in a beautiful
subdivision close to Lake Erie, and while we have certainly reduced the number of
dogs we maintain, we do hope to have a litter from time to time.
We choose to sell very few show puppies, however the ones we have shared have
always done well for their owners, often taking Best Puppy in Show, Best Puppy in
Group or Group Placing wins, with their beautiful faces, sound bodies and unshakable
temperaments. You can see them HERE.
I have, over the past few years developed a love for photography. Most of the photographs (with the exception
of the show photos) have been taken by me, and every now and again, we capture the true beauty of this
wonderful breed.
